GT Foundation is committed towards the upliftment of people who live below the poverty line and seeks to create opportunities that help in establishing a more equitable society among the rural community. We aim to make effective progress in the areas of education, women and child empowerment and social rehabilitation and aspire to bring joy and smiles on the faces of those who possibly never discovered their self-worth.
India presents some startling statistics; with a population of over 1 billion, India is expected to be the most populous country by 2025 and at present over 20% of its population live below the poverty line. In many cases they are hard pressed for some basic amenities like food, clothes and shelter. It’s not uncommon to see many corporates look for avenues to create a positive impact on the society and raise funds for philanthropical causes. However, not many seek to identify with those they work with, and that is where GT Foundation makes a difference. We’d like to highlight the fact that helping the poor is more than just disbursing money, it’s about making a lasting commitment to identify their need, hold their hand, touch their heart and make changes happen…
The GT Foundation reaches out to the rural community by kick-starting initiatives such as computer and vocation training and adult literacy programmes. We provide opportunities for unemployed, rural youth, help them find their feet in a tough, competitive world and equip them with skills and knowledge so they are enriched and give back to their community.
‘Home for the aged’ is a cliché’. After all everyone prefers their sunset years to be just as enjoyable and refreshing as one’s youth, if not more. Whilst financial constraints and familial obligations may not make this entirely possible for some, a growing majority would vouch for the fact that they would like to spend the last years of the lives with much dignity and independence. The Sunset Years project is dedicated to provide a caring environment to those who need constant support due to physical ailments and treat the elderly with love and respect that they so richly deserve. With a personalised program and innovative approach towards caring, we take into account the medical, dietary, physical and social needs of the elderly and plan appropriate activities and services to nurture their interests.
Although technology has made inroads into every economic sector, the textile industry in India remains largely labour intensive. An artisan’s workspace is a far cry from the plush city offices where we usually spend most of our waking hours. It’s extremely challenging to work long hours for a measly sum, and that’s when the founder of GT Foundation stepped in to ring in change. The ‘Untouchables’ initiative is an endeavour to elevate poor artisans from backward communities to world-class status by showcasing their work that reflects the rich heritage of India. Some of the finest handcrafted treasures include clothing apparel, handbags, business stationary and home accessories. Check out the entire catalogue on our website – www.untouchables.com.
